Sri Lanka vs England, 3rd ODI

In a low scoring thriller, England edged out Sri Lanka to win by 2 wickets and take a 2-1 lead in the 5 match ODI series. After electing to bat first, Sri Lanka never started off well and kept losing wickets. Tillekeratne Dilshan was the only player in the entire match who figured out the pitch. His 70 from only 84 balls saved Sri Lanka from an embarrassing total.

Ryan Sidebottom and Stuart Broad ripped through the top order to leave Sri Lanka gasping at 42-4. Swann then did the rest of the damage as he destroyed the middle order and the tail leaving Dilshan out of partners, before he too was dismissed with the score on 164.

England, needing 164 runs from 48 overs, made a complete hash of proceedings when they slumped to 107-7. It was the bowlers, Swann and Broad, who ensured that the visitors took the lead in the series. For Sri Lanka, Fervez Maharoof was the most successful as hi picked up 3 wickets. Swann was awarded man of the match for his all round display.
